Kathleen Hefty recently sat down with founder and editor of MATTE Magazine, Matthew Leifheit to get a unique perspective on independent publishing and curating. Not only does Leifheit produce each issue of MATTE largely on his own, he is also the photo editor of Vice Magazineand has an active photography practice. Since 2010, MATTE has dedicated each issue to one…
I interviewed Thomas Roma about his new book, The Waters of oOur Time, for VICE.
MATTE magazine issue no. 23 features a rich new body of studio work by Rachel Stern. The issue is more than 50 pages long, making it by far the biggest issue of the magazine to date. Inside, you’ll find a foreword by Nathaniel M. Stein, who is currently the Horace W. Goldsmith Curatorial Fellow in Photography at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. You’ll also find an introductory poem by Paul Legault, and infographics designed by Joseph Kaplan. This is all in support of Stern’s new pictures, which have been produced over the course of the last year.
